Mt Rainier Commission - 20x70 oil on canvas, 2021
Observing the light and shapes illuminating the changing seasons and new growth in these foothills is what influenced the jittery, painterly brushstrokes and multicolored glazes of this painting. This piece was commissioned for a woman who is a fan of folk art, like the simplified nature scenes found on painted saws and pottery. It now hangs at her home in Roy, above French doors, leading to an identical view of the mountain.
